Alignment with the Global Sustainable Development Goals

At MEGA we have adopted the United Nations Agenda for 2030 as expressed by the Global Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

The Board decision is to contribute actively to their achievement, by promoting prosperity, environmental protection and the wellbeing of our employees.

MEGA contributes to the achievement of 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, continuously monitors its relevant performance and presents in detail its progress in the annual sustainability report.

By adopting the UN Agenda 2030, MEGA embraces the 17 Global Development Goals and commits to them as an active participant:

Energy Consumption

At MEGA, we make every effort to reduce the consumption of energy (electricity generation) and fuel (vehicles transporting personnel, raw materials and goods), thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the rate of increase of the global average temperature and, thus, helping to mitigate climate crisis.

By realizing the gravity of climate emergency, MEGA has set measurable targets to minimize its carbon footprint by continuously investing in new energy-saving technologies, RES production infrastructure and decarbonization practices across its operations.

Green Certificate

MEGA has obtained the Green Certificate, which confirms that the electricity consumed in its factory, facilities and offices comes from 100% green energy sources. The company has set a target to maximize RESs self-production by 2050.

Waste Management

As part of our environmental policy, we are committed to the proper collection and management of our waste. We implement large scale, high quality environmental management and disposal practices, diverting the vast majority of our waste from the landfill.

Waste created during the production processes of our industrial unit is being separated at the point of production in order to achieve a high level of recycling and recovery of materials, thereby converting the produced waste into useful materials or energy.

The following tables present the categories in which the materials are separated, how they are managed and the results of the waste management program:
